Pooni on the Spindle

The idea of having a blog to document my thoughts has been swimming in my head for sometime now, maybe for more than 365 days. So now, its about time to get the idea working.

Why do I wish to blog? Essentially to document my observations, lessons learnt and musings. Its because having a digital form of a diary seems convenient. And anyway, I am not much of a writer in the sense that I don't carry a pen and a diary around to jot down random thoughts that may appear to me. A thought that I tend to rethink over time is the one that I lavish my attention on. Much like this blog.

So, why blog? Also because, ironically, even in this world where "freedom of speech is a fundamental right" for many like us in India, and you have affordable "unlimited calling" plans for mobile phones, the truth is that we live in an intolerant, divided society populated by many more "dysfunctional" than "functional" families.

Also, today, June 16, 2019 is "Father's Day" and I wanted to mark it with an activity that I enjoy indulging in, with my father. We love to talk about most things, mainly politics, feminism and traditional Indian cuisine -- off-late parenting. And most of the times, the talks a loud, long and end with a small verbal tiff, a 24-hour long verbal communication disruption and off course, we both complain about each other to his wife, my mother.

So, I am wise enough to know that I am going to miss all this one day and have set out to create my "safe thoughts" habour. My poonis are ready for the spindle and the "charkha" is all set.
